Dr. Lauren Steigerwalt grew up in various towns around Massachusetts, and then completed her undergraduate degree at University of Pittsburgh. She returned to Massachusetts for veterinary school at Tufts University, where she took a special interest in exotics, nutrition, behavior, and community veterinary medicine. While Dr. Steigerwalt loves dogs and cats, exotics are her favorite. She has completed additional training in exotic animal medicine, as well as wildlife and zoo medicine. She has been involved with local small mammal rescues and especially loves rats!
In addition to her clinical work in New England, Dr. Steigerwalt enjoys going on trips to provide access to veterinary care to large and small animals in under-served areas. She is excited to join the team at Lexington-Bedford Veterinary Hospital, and she is looking forward to staying in the area close to her family.
In her spare time, Dr. Steigerwalt loves hiking, camping, horseback riding, and cooking. She also enjoys hosting board game nights as well as spending time with her family and her four rats.
